Dr. Ann Price, MD
Chief Medical Consultant
Dr. Price has 37 years of experience working with adolescents. Her work experience includes serving as the Chief Medical Officer for the InterCommunity Mental Health Group in East Hartford, as the Medical Director from Community Mental Health Affiliates in New Britain, and as the Director of Adolescent Services at The Institute of Living. In addition, she served as Chief of Psychiatric Consultation for the Office of the Commissioner, Department of Mental Health. She has also taught at University of Connecticut Medical School, New York Medical College, and Tulane Medical Center. Dr. Price has served on the Governor’s Task Force on Adolescent Suicide, and as a consultant and expert witness to Child Services in Florida. She maintains a private practice in West Hartford.
Upon admission to The Next Right Thing, Dr. Price provides a complete psychiatric evaluation for adolescents and she assists in designing an individual treatment plan for each family. She is on site 10 hours a week to provide medication management, participate in group therapies, and supervise the clinical staff in The Next Right Thing’s IOP (intensive outpatient program).
Dr Price, monitors opiate detoxes to ensure a safe and comfortable transition to an opiate blocker, Naltrexone. She might also prescribe the same blocker for alcohol dependence. In addition, Dr. Price closely medically manages adolescents with psychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression.
